Hyundai Warranty FAQs

How does a Hyundai warranty work?

A new Hyundai warranty is provided at the time you purchase the vehicle. In the UK, that covers 5 years and unlimited miles. To maintain that cover, you’ll need to follow the manufacturer’s servicing guidelines (you can get your car serviced at any VAT-registered garage that uses approved Hyundai parts in order to satisfy those).

What does a Hyundai Warranty cover?

A Hyundai warranty straight from the manufacturer takes care of the costs to repair or replace any factory-fitted mechanical or electrical components that unexpectedly fail. This is only valid if problems happen during your initial Hyundai car warranty period (ie. the first 5 years of your vehicle’s life).

A MotorEasy Hyundai Warranty covers all the same things as the original Hyundai warranty, but with the addition of:

  • Cover for emissions failures
  • Protection against overheating failures
  • Coverage for air conditioning issues

What is not covered by a Hyundai warranty?

Nothing is covered by a Hyundai auto warranty once your vehicle hits 5 years old. You can’t extend your cover beyond year 5 simply because the company does not provide extended warranty on Hyundai cars.

Even during those first 5 years, there are some surprising limitations to keep in mind:

  • Air Con coverage - only 6 months or 10,000 miles
  • Clutch coverage - only 2 years or 60,000 miles
  • Wear & tear - not covered

If you want a Hyundai aftermarket warranty that WILL cover all of those things, and more, just pop your registration number into our Hyundai extended warranty quote journey, and our friendly team will take care of the rest.

What is not covered by a MotorEasy warranty?

Our extended warranties are designed to give your car the protection it deserves, but it’s important to know what’s not included. Here’s what’s outside our scope:

  • Accidental damage or crash repairs
  • Unauthorised modifications / alterations
  • Routine maintenance and servicing
  • Issues caused by missed services or ignored warning lights

Want all the details? Head over to this page for a complete list of exclusions.

Do all Hyundais come with a warranty?

Yes, if you’re purchasing a brand new car, then you’ll be covered by Hyundai's 5-year warranty.

How long is a Hyundai warranty?

Every Hyundai is sold with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty. When your 5 years are up, you’ll need to talk to MotorEasy as Hyundai as a company does not offer extended warranties for their vehicles. If your Hyundai is running out of its original warranty cover, it’s simple and easy to get a quote from MotorEasy. Just enter your registration number to get a MotorEasy Hyundai extended warranty quote

Can I extend my Hyundai warranty?

The initial warranty you have direct from Hyundai will run out after the 5th year, and you can’t extend it with them. You’ll need to look elsewhere - like MotorEasy - to cover your vehicle as Hyundai only covers the first 5 years of the vehicle's life.

How can I check my Hyundai warranty?

You can do a Hyundai warranty check online, using the DVLA information checker or Hyundai’s "myHyundai" portal.

What is a MotorEasy Hyundai extended warranty?

A MotorEasy extended warranty for Hyundai cars provides coverage for the cost of repairing factory-fitted mechanical and electrical parts on your vehicle long after your original manufacturer warranty expires.

There are also some additional benefits you can enjoy with an extended Hyundai Warranty from MotorEasy:

Failures caused by overheating
Coverage for vehicles up to 120,000 miles (100,000 with Hyundai warranty)
12, 24, or 36-month, or  monthly cover (Not available at all with Hyundai)
This isn’t an exhaustive list. You can see the full list here —> Hyundai extended warranty

Can I buy a Hyundai warranty on a used Hyundai?

Hyundai doesn’t offer extended warranties for used vehicles once they’re outside the original 5-year warranty. If you purchased a used Hyundai from an official Hyundai dealer, you’d have received at least an 18-month warranty. But after that, you can’t get a Hyundai car warranty extension direct from the manufacturer.

That’s where we come in! At MotorEasy, we can provide you with extended Hyundai warranty cover, as long as your car has fewer than 120,000 miles on the clock. Not only will you enjoy the peace of mind that comes with our comprehensive coverage, but you’ll also benefit from a range of extras designed to make your life easier. These include:

  • A free digital logbook in your MotorEasy account with useful date reminders (such as service and MOT dates) and access to special MotorEasy discounts
  • Our monitored repair process, which tracks your progress and ensures work is completed to our agreed high standard
  • The reassurance that you’ll never be out of pocket - we pay network garages directly
  • Access our network of 10,000 garages nationwide
  • 24/7 online bookings

What is the difference between a Hyundai new car warranty, extended warranty and approved used warranty?

A Hyundai new car warranty typically covers defects in materials or workmanship for the first 5 years. An extended warranty provides additional coverage (in terms of what's covered and / or the length of the cover), giving you peace of mind beyond your new car warranty. An approved used Hyundai warranty applies to pre-owned Hyundai vehicles, offering limited coverage to vehicles that have passed a rigorous inspection process.
